Ask for help- Its hard to transition form middle school to high school and your going to need help, so ask for it.

Try not to be absent- catching up at Foothill sucks you miss so much in a day.

Eat well- The periods are so long so if you miss breakfast its going to be hard to focus

Make good friends- You don't want to mix with the wrong crowd find friends who support you.

Smile :D- Its good for you

Do your homework- It actually does matter if you do it and its good practice for the test

Do Your Best On The Test- make sure you study!

Don't Worry- Try not to stress to much just study and do your homework and you'll be fine

Have a good attitude- Don't get on any of the teaches bad side it wont end well

Live Young, and Wild, and Free- That doesn't mean go out and do drugs it means that even though your in high school it doesn't mean you cant sill go out and have fun. your still young.

    1. Come to school with all of your things, even if you think you are not going to need them.

    2. Try and talk with other people besides the friends you are normally with,so that you look social

    3. Sign up for a club if you are really interested in that specific subject.

    4. Don’t take all honors classes; balance them out with other classes.

    5. Try and keep at the least a 3.0

    6. It would probably be best to get ahead on community service, so you don’t get distracted or busy with other things.

    7. Listen to your teachers and pay attention, so that they think good of you,and so you don't get confused

    8. Try to turn in all assignments, even the smallest ones points can really make a difference.

    9. It’s better to have something in the grade book rather than of a zero.

    1. Do not, I repeat DO NOT slack off. You get behind, and end up getting stressed out because you feel like you're drowning.

    2. Be careful who your friends are. Make sure to befriend good, positive people. People who will help you, not pull you into drama, or who will pull you into bad things.

    3. Don’t be afraid to ask for extra help. If you’re struggling to understand something, go to a teacher to get a better understanding

    4. High school goes so much faster than you think. I am a sophomore, and telling you from my point of view, its crazy to think that i only have to years left before I am dumped out to the real world, on my own.

    5. Teachers are not out to get you! Even if it may feel like it, believe it or not they truly want the best for you. They may make some things a little tough, and sometimes they can be tough on you. But life’s tough, you’ll get through it.

    6. Do those community service hours! Trust me, its better to get them done(or most of them done) before you have to start cramming. I finished all 75 this year, and now I am getting more, because theres awards for that.

    7. Use FIRE wisely. Would you rather do some homework at school, and have time to do better things at home, or go home and try to do your homework, and end up not doing it and getting a bad grade? FIRE is good for you.

    8. Honors classes are a good thing. They help prepare you for AP classes, which look really super good to colleges.

    9. Keep your backpack and binder organized. The more you’re organized, the better off you are. And the easier things will be too.

    10. Don’t give up. Trust me. Once you have made your way through, and you have come out through the storm, and get to see the sunshine. It will be the best feeling you have ever felt. Don’t give up on yourself, doing homework, projects, finishing high school. It’s all worth it in the end.

10 Things Every Freshman Should Know
    1. It’s not as hard as you think it is. Do your assignments, pay attention in class, and get help when you need it.
    2. Make friends. Make lots of friends. Friends will help you in your time of need.
    3. Talk to your teachers. They aren’t psychopaths trying to hurt you. They want you to succeed. If you have a question, feel free to ask your teacher during FIRE, before/after school, etc.
    4. Make a set time for when you do your homework. Yeah, it sounds cheesy, but it can definitely help you.
    5. Continuing on the topic of homework, be sure to disengage yourself from your phone, iPod, the internet, etc. while doing homework. Call of Duty and Spongebob can wait.
    6. Take advantage of FIRE. Your tutors are there to help you, and they are pretty smart (otherwise they wouldn’t be there to tutor). FIRE is a great time for homework help.
    7. Stay active (outside of P.E.) Find an athletic hobby (running, baseball, basketball, football, etc.) Exercise is a great way to relieve stress, which (sorry) you will be dealing with.
    8. Check your grades every couple of days to stay informed. Nuff’ said.
    9. Take a symbolic chill pill. When the going gets tough, take a five minute break, walk around, and take deep breaths. Calm yourself. Then get back to it.
    10. Don’t be afraid to do stupid things. Experience is the best teacher.

    4. Be careful who you choose as friends. It might be your ticket to being sane.

Ten Things Every Freshman Should Know:

    1. Do not procrastinate. Even though you have more time doesn’t mean you should put it off; things pile up really fast.
    2. Don’t Stress yourself out. The workload may seem like more work, but it’s manageable if you do it on time.
    3. Be sure to get sleep. You may have to lose a few hours of sleep due to homework, but be sure to catch up on it during the weekends or whenever you can.
    4. Your social life isn’t everything. Friends mean a lot but there is always time for them later. School comes first.
    5. Stay away from bad peer pressure. Don’t do something just because it seems “cool”.
    6. Don’t hangout with people that will make you do things you don’t want to do. It may seem like it’ll be hard to lose friends, but you can always make more.
    7. Don’t stop doing your schoolwork just because it’s boring. It may be boring, but it’s better than summer school.
    8. Ask for help if you don’t understand. It may seem embarrassing to ask for help, but if you don’t you’ll fall farther and farther behind.
    9. It’s ok to switch your schedule. If you have a teacher that you think won’t teach you well don’t be afraid to change your schedule. Even if that means you won’t have a certain friend in your class, that’s ok.
    10. Be sure to turn in all your work and do the easy extra credit all the time. If you don’t turn in your stuff on time it will start to bring down your grade. This doesn’t mean you can’t turn in a few things late, and it’s always better to turn it in late than not at all. But don’t make a habit of it and extra credit helps a lot!

The first things freshmen should do is get to know new people. It is nice when you meet new people and have more people to rely on. Also since it is a small school you would be able to know more people! So get to meet new people and make friends that will follow you during your 4 years here at Foothill.
The second thing is that you should always come on time to class. You always want to be on time to class so you won't have too many truences that will make your record bad. Being early or on time is recommended so you won't miss anything big that might need for projects or assignments in the future.
The third thing is to control your emotions or simply act mature. You are in the stage where you are expected to act more like an adult which might be a big change. It is a change that you want to adapt to in order to communicate well with other students on campus that went through maturity.
The fourth thing is that you should respect the teachers and staff. So far the staff at Foothill has been the nicest teachers in all of schools i’ve been so far, and they should be treated with the utmost respect.
The fifth thing is you should never procrastinate on any projects or assignments because they are relatively hard and probably won't get done in one night. Even though it is possible it is not recommended and we don't need grumpy kids at school the next morning.
The sixth thing is you should have good public speaking skills or at least be prepared to use them. You will need to get through a ninth grade project which you will be talking outloud into a small class.
The seventh thing is that you should know when its the appropriate time for something. Some teachers here at Foothill are cool enough to let you use your phones but you need to know when it is the right time and where in order to keep using them. You should listen for the teacher in class anyway but you will be able to use them in some special occasions.
The eighth thing is that you should treat the electronic devices that are here on campus, such as ipads and computers. You need to treat them with respect so we will be able to use them for many more years to come.
The ninth thing is that you should never ditch class or leave campus. Even though it would be relatively hard to do it is not good. You will get caught and when you do it won't be pleasant.
The last thing is that you should always try your hardest to be a better person, in and out of school. You will make yourself look and feel better. In school you will make good grades and out of school you will make Foothill kids look great and set good examples.

    1. The very first thing that every freshman should know is try not to stand out in your first year of high school. Because then you may make friends and you may collect some enemies in the process.

    2. If you have some friends that you went to 8th grade with there at the same school hangout with them the first month and then start branching out.

    3. All of the teachers are going to have a different personality, so don't take offense if one of the teachers keep calling you out in class.

    4. Don't be afraid to ask questions, no one is going to bite your hand off for asking a question.

    5. Don't try to impress a girl with some cool trick that you can do because girls in high school find that weird and unimpressive.

    5. If you do not have any friends then talk to people in class even if it gets you into a little bit of trouble.

    6. Sometimes getting into a little trouble is good for your social life in the long run.

    7. Don't procrastinate in any of your classes because in high school it is really hard to dig yourself out of that grave.

    8. Be friendly towards others.

    9. Always take opportunities that you have to improve your grade.

    Every freshman should know this.....

How to communicate easily with students you don’t know
Present in front of an audience without getting distracted
Every freshman should be prepared and on time to class
Turn in every assignment on time especially major assignments
Study for every quiz and test for at least half an hour
Don’t use your phone or ipod if the teacher is talking, Otherwise you won't pay attention
Make as many friends as possible so you know and can talk to friends when you need help on assignments.Having a friend with you makes the class easier
If possible do all late assignments and or test corrections.(it could boost up your grade from a B+ to an A-)
Always get on a teacher's good side because they are the one who are grading you
You should be proud that you got into Foothill so stay in Foothill

  28. To whatever freshman that comes across this message, there are 10 things you should know on how your 9th grade year is gonna plan out. For one thing, the most important thing when trying to make new friends from different schools last year is....
Don’t be shy. Step out of the antisocial zone at the beginning of the year to make good first impressions. But don't be obnoxious to get attention. You don’t want to start your first year in high school as that one annoying kid.
Try not to be late to class
Avoid picking fights with the teacher.
Have confidence, but don’t make people think you want to stand up to them.
Complete all your work, or enough to get a good grade in your classes.
Try to avoid picking fights with other students(although it rarely happens at foothill)
Pay your fines in the cafeteria as soon as possible.
Make sure you hang out with somebody. If you have friends, it’s better than being a loner.
STUDY FOR TESTS. To me, this is probably the most important lesson I NEED to follow this year. It is important for your grade that you do it to.
    And lastly….

    · Foothill is a semi-rich school. You do well in your freshman year and most of you pass the finals, chances are you’ll be heading to Six flags in Sophomore year!
