    What Every Freshman Should Know
    1. You may think you can remember all your assignments. YOU CAN’T. This isn’t middle school anymore, kiddies.
    2. You will pull some all-nighters to finish your homework. You will be fine.
    3. If your English teacher says they want an essay formatted in a certain way, do it. Remember, they’re the ones grading the thing.
    4. Don’t try to take a table from the upperclassmen. I know you got there first, but really, it’s better for everyone involved if you just don’t make a big fuss about it. It is not fair, but you won’t die because of it.
    5. Spanish class (or any class, for that matter) is what you make it, and trust me, it’s worth the effort.
    6. Utilize the time you have in FIRE to work on your homework. Just think- an extra half-hour to play World of Warcraft at home!
    7. The 9th grade project is probably not as confusing as you think it is. As stated before, you will be fine.
    8. Remember: your shows possession, you’re is a contraction of “you are.” Mixing these up is not okay anymore. You’re in high school, for goodness sake.
    9. It’s better to get late credit than no credit, and teachers are generally pretty understanding.
    10. To paraphrase the great Aretha Franklin: you will survive.

    Every Freshman Should Know:
1.If you can’t stand a teacher/ class, switch as soon as possible. It doesn’t help anything if you are either bored of or can’t keep up with a class or you always come out of it feeling unhappy and like you haven’t learned anything

3.Choose the classes that interest you, even if there isn’t as wide a selection freshman year
4.Participate in class as much as you can, even if you don’t like talking in class
    5.Join a club. They’re fun!
6.Use FIRE. Seriously. Especially if you have an after school activity or activities that take up most of your time
7.Don’t procrastinate. It makes things harder on yourself more than anything
8.If you need help, ask a teacher or your FIRE leaders
    9.Try new things

    What Every Freshman Should Know:

On your first day of school I know it can be scary, but don’t just hang out with your friends from last year. You just started High School! Be productive and start making new friends, because like it or not these people will be with you for the rest of High School.

The beauty of Foothill is, many people aren’t afraid to be themselves here and you should do the same. Don’t try to be someone you’re not.

One thing about teachers is, they are always willing to help you. Some are even willing to help you more than the usual student. Though, if they reach out and you reject them then there’s no helping you. Even if you feel that you would fail whatever they have planned on to help you, as long as you show them that you are trying your hardest they won’t stop trying to help you.

Probably one of the most commonly said things and sometimes hardest thing you should know is DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!

If you ever want to use your phone in class here’s a tip. Pretend like you’re reading a book. You can cover up your phone with the book.

Don't give into pier pressure, who cares if it looks cool. You really want to take the chance to possibly hurt yourself or worse!?

The kids in higher grades aren't scary, make friends with them. They can actually help you out a lot.

The conditions for classes will always be different. Arrive prepared! Meaning pack a jacket, food, extra supplies, etc. You'd be surprised how useful this is.

Even if the assignment is not worth a lot of points, don't just half a** it. Try your best and give it your all. It'll help you in the long run.

A really important thing every Freshman should know, not only for High School, but for the rest of their lives is, NEVER UNDERESTIMATE SOMEBODY! Never make an assumption about somebody. That normally only leads to trouble.

    What Every Freshman Should Know

1.Don’t procrastinate. I know it sounds cliche and it’s one of those things you’ve heard so many times it passes through your mind without meaning, but it’s just not worth it. Don’t leave things hanging around to torture you when you could get them over with easily and just be done with it.

2.Study. I know you don’t think you need to, but you do.

3.Just be you. Another cliche, but seriously no one at Foothill cares. A lot of us are truly very odd, but we all still love each other, and if people don’t accept you, in the end it’s their loss.

4.Don’t be scared. Of the teachers, the curriculum or even the six foot tall guys with beards. It’s a bit of an uncomfortable transition, but you’ll settle right in quicky, I guarantee it.

5.Don’t get caught up in drama. It’s painful to get caught up in, and easy to avoid so I advise sticking to the latter.

6.Don’t be intimidated by the ninth grade project. Personally I was terrified, and afraid it was going to be some horribly torturous process, but it wasn’t actually even half as bad I anticipated.

7.Don’t be worried about maneuvering the campus/getting to your classes on time, it’s tiny. You can literally stand at one end and see the other.

8.Don’t stay up late. I do this far too often and it just makes the next day tedious and it’s really not worth it.

9.Stay organized. I’m serious, as soon as you start to get messy you lose papers, and it’s just a hassle to try and find things, and your life will be much easier if you just put papers where they’re supposed to go in the first place.

10.Enjoy the year. It goes by really fast, and this is the only time you’ll ever be a Freshman, so don’t get too caught up in the academic aspect and live a little.

    1) Establish good relationships with your teachers (this may not get you a better grade, but at least it will allow them to see you as a good student).
    2) Have any and all plans written out in an agenda, as many challenges will be faced regarding schedules, extensive assignments, meetings, etc.
    3) No matter what, try not to procrastinate--that only makes things worse.
    4) Pay close attention when the teacher is lecturing--all it takes is a minute or so to keep you from knowing what to do.
    5) Try to stay away from drama, and if you do, try as hard as possible to keep it under the radar to keep from attracting attention
    6) Make sure you know how to get your grades up if they are low, as the teachers may not always tell you.
    7) Know who to get involved with, and who to stay away from.
    8) Try to establish a relationship with upperclassmen, as it will keep you safe from being antagonized or looked down upon by them.
    9) Work comes before recreation--time will not be given to you, it is your job to organize your own schedule.
    10) Class is more exciting when you are enthusiastic.
